F. Kopitzke - Grain Sack Coat

$575.00

This one-of-one jacket was handcrafted from two antique European grain sacks dating to the early 1900s. Each sack once carried grain across rural Prussia and northern Germany. Woven from linen and hemp, they were stenciled with the farmer’s name — F. Kopitzke — and repaired countless times over their working lives.

More than a century later, that same cloth has been reimagined as a timeless piece of slow fashion. Every patch, seam, and visible mend remains intentionally preserved — a record of labor, endurance, and the beauty of imperfection.

Over 20 hours of construction. Cut, stitched, and finished entirely by hand using pre-war textiles that can never be replicated. The original sacks somehow made their way to Iowa, where they were discovered in the 1990s before being transformed into this singular garment.
